We have investigated decay angular distributions and other characteristics associated with enhancements near 1450 and 1700 MeV in the pir + ir~~ mass distribution for the ppir^iT final state produced in pp interactions at 22 GeV/c. Our results are consistent with a spin assignment of J for the 1450-MeV effect if the A ++ w~ branching of this effect is assumed to be small. We associate this effect with the Pn(1470) state inferred from phase-shift analyses. In the case of the 1700-MeV feature, we favor strong contributions from a /=f + state which can be reasonably associated with the Fi 5 (1690) state reported in the phaseshift work.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
