Wlhat did Dewey take to be the most urgent problem of his (and our) time? Although he gave a variety of formulations, the key problem is the character of our moral and political lives. It is the problem of human practice, in the sense of "practice" characterized by Aristotle when he spoke of praxis as the distinctive form of human activity.
