Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor Q Q (PPARQ Q) plays a central role in adipocyte di¡erentiation and insulin sensitivity. Although PPARQ Q also appears to regulate diverse cellular processes in other cell types such as lymphocytes, the detailed mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we established a lentivirus-mediated short hairpin RNA expression system and identi¢ed a potent short hairpin RNA which suppresses PPARQ Q expression, resulting in marked inhibition of preadipocyte-toadipocyte di¡erentiation in 3T3-L1 cells. Our PPARQ Q-knockdown method will serve to clarify the PPARQ Q pathway in various cell types in vivo and in vitro, and will facilitate the development of therapeutic applications for a variety of diseases.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
