Abstract:The study is aimed at proving empirically the significant effect of applying the product oriented writing instruction on the first year EFL undergraduate EFL students writing achievement. The reached population of this research is the first year undergraduate EFL students of the 3 chosen private and public universities in East and Central Java. Using GEFT Instrument, all the first year EFL students of those universities are tested and those students classified as field independent cognitive style only used as the subject of experimentation. Others having neutral and field dependent cognitive style are used as comparative groups. Posttest only design with 5 meetings using simplified product oriented writing instruction procedure treatment are applied to those subject. The finding shows that there is a significant betterment of the subject writing achievement after being given product oriented writing instruction. The reason of why the field independent cognitive style EFL students are more superior that the other two is because the learners having Field Independent Cognitive Style treat information and model as the characteristics of product oriented writing instruction as an independent part of his environment/surrounding, whereas the learners having other cognitive style treat information and perception as a whole and not separated from his environment/the surrounding. That makes the subject can take the advantage of the model and example presented in product oriented writing instruction. The researcher recommends TEFL practitioners consider the learner's characteristic (cognitive style) as one of the learning condition variables that must be used as the base to determine the teaching/learning method to get the optimum learning achievement. Product oriented teaching in writing is suitable to be given for the students having field independent cognitive style.
The research was conducted at MAN 2 Malang City through qualitative descriptive research where the subjects of the research were the head of the madrasa, vice principal of the madrasa, treasurer, administrative staff, madrasa committee and teachers. Data collection techniques through interviews are carried out online and offline, observation and documentation studies. The results showed that the profile of MAN 2 Malang City described 1) the vision, mission, 2) goals, 3) targets and profiles of madrasah resources. Strategy implementation at MAN 2 Malang City is carried out through internal and external school environmental activities which are described through the school's organizational structure, teamwork and division of madrasa tasks, study days and times, financing assets, curriculum, promotion of madrasas, new student admissions, madrasa culture, code of ethics, madrasa policy, geographical, demographic, cultural environment and community appreciation, government policy, development of science and technology, involvement of madrasa committees, supporting or partnering institutions, alumni and strategic implementation in an effort to meet national education standards. Implementation of evaluation at MAN 2 Malang City is carried out continuously involving the highest or top management and madrasah stakeholders both short, medium and long term through madrasah self-evaluation instruments, teachers and benchmarking to improve madrasa performance and education quality.Keywords: Implementation of strategic management, improving the quality of education, madrasasABSTRAK Penelitian dilakukan di MAN 2 Kota Malang melalui penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dimana yang menjadi subyek penelitian adalah kepala madrasah, wakil kepala madrasah, bendahara, tenaga tata usaha, komite madrasah dan guru. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dilakukan melalui online dan offline, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil MAN 2 Kota Malang mendeskripsikan 1) visi, misi, 2) tujuan, 3) sasaran dan profil sumber daya madrasah. Implementasi strategi pada MAN 2 Kota Malang dilakukan melalui aktivitas lingkungan internal dan eksternal sekolah yang dideskripsikan melalui struktur organisasi sekolah, teamwork dan pembagian tugas madrasah, hari dan waktu belajar, aset pembiayaan, kurikulum, promosi madrasah, penerimaan siswa baru, budaya madrasah, kode etik, kebijakan madrasah, keberadaan lingkungan geografis, demografis, lingkungan budaya dan apresiasi masyarakat, kebijakan pemerintah, perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, keterlibatan komite madrasah, lembaga pendukung atau yang bermitra, alumni dan implementasi strategik dalam upaya memenuhi standar pendidikan nasional. Pelaksanaan evaluasi pada MAN 2 Kota Malang dilakukan secara terus menerus melibatkan manajemen tertinggi atau puncak dan stakeholder madrasah baik jangka pendek, menengah dan panjang melalui instrumen evaluasi diri madrasah, guru dan benchmarking untuk meningkatkan kinerja madrasah dan mutu pendidikan.Kata kunci: Implementasi manajemen strategi, peningkatan mutu pendidikan, madrasah
The results showed that; 1) Planning for academic supervision by the principal at MAN 2 Malang City uses a collaborative approach model, which is compiled at the beginning of the year. The types of programs include annual programs, programs are prepared based on identification, analysis and evaluation of the previous year. The results show that planning for academic supervision in the post-Covid-19 transition period is currently going well. 2) Implementation of academic supervision in order to improve the quality of learning in MAN 2 Malang City using the academic supervision model. The results of the research on the implementation of academic supervision in the post-Covid-19 transition era by the head of the madrasah continued well. This can be seen from the direct supervision process in the form of monitoring the teacher's teaching activities through direct observation, the supervisor will provide assistance to the teacher in solving problems and providing an evaluation of the learning process that has taken place. 3) Evaluation of the academic supervision of the madrasah principal is carried out by the madrasa head and the supervision team at MAN 2 Malang City, carried out at the end of the semester to measure the success of a supervisory approach that has been carried out by the madrasah principal.Keywords: Academic Supervision Innovation, learning quality.
