Traditional rice farming requires a lot of time and effort, therefore the high farming costs needed. The use of mechanization in rice farming is a technology can give the benefit to increase the farming efficiency and anticipate the scarcity of resources. This study aims to analyse the feasibility of lowland rice farming using agricultural machinery, both technical, financial and social feasibility. The research was conducted in Teureubeh Village, Jantho City District, Aceh Besar District. Primary data obtained from the survey results assisted by qualitative data obtained from observations. The results showed that technically a combine harvester could be operated to land conditions suitable, was more profitable than the traditional method, its showed from the value of R/C (2.4), in the rice harvesting process has not had a negative impact on farmers, and has even provided benefits for farmers in harvest period due to the difficulty of labor available at the research location.
The aim of this research was to determine important parameters based on farmers’ perceptions and the selection of the best alternative varieties for the development of upland rice in East Aceh. Data collected includes secondary data and primary data. Primary data collection is done by using questionnaire data in gathering information on farmers’ perceptions. Whereas the alternative selection combines elements of farmers’ perceptions and field observations of several varieties. The analytical method was carried out using observations in the field and processing data descriptively. The varieties used in the field study were Inpago 8, Inpago 9, Inpago 10, Inpago 11 and Situ Patenggang. The results of the study address important parameters in the cultivation of upland rice based on the results of the questionnaire with farmers are the age of fast harvesting plants and the average production with a very important category, then the weight of 1000 seeds in grams and the potential yield with important categories, then the productive tillers of each stem, the amount grain of each panicle (seeds) and tall plants in the Medium category. The choice of the best alternative varieties in East Aceh Regency based on the results of farmers’ perceptions and field studies were found in Inpago 9 varieties.
This study aims to determine the level of economic feasibility of corn farming in dry land through the application of technological innovations using hybrid corn New High- Yielding varieties seeds. This research used a randomized design and was conducted on 1 hectare of land owned by farmers in Blang Gandai Village, Jeumpa District, Bireun, from April to October 2016. The data collection method was a survey qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative is the characteristics of the research location and an explanation of the hybrid corn varieties. While the quantitative is the analysis data of hybrid corn farming that has been calculated. Sources of data were obtained from information directly from farmers as many as 6 cooperators, were 3 farmers with an introduction practice and 3 farmers with farmers practice. The varieties used were Bima 3 dan Bima 4. Data were collected by interview using a questionnaire with a structured list of questions. The farming data analysis carried out includes the use of production facilities, the use of labor, and the level of efficiency of farming with financial analysis of the R/C ratio. The analysis used is revenue and income, income-to-cost balance (R/C) and income balance cost B/C. The results showed that economically both Bima 3 and Bima 4 varieties provide favorable results where the R/C of both is 1,82. This means that Bima 3 and Bima 4 varieties are very feasible to be developed to increase corn production in Bireun Districts on dry land.
