This study is was carried out to examine the students’ level of anxiety in speaking Arabic language. Approximately 103 Arabic language education students from a university in Central Java were selected purposively to participate in this study. The instrument used in this study was the modified and translated Foreign Language Speaking Anxiety Scale by Balemir from Huang. This questionnaire consisted of 28 items with five-point likert scale ranged from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The data was then analysed using Winstep version 3.73 from Rasch model as well as IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. The result from Rasch model analysis showed that majority of the students experienced a moderate level of anxiety in speaking Arabic language, and the personal reason is the most potential source of their anxiety. The independent sample t-test result revealed that the female students were more anxious than the male students while speaking. The Spearman’s rho test result indicated that there was negative significant correlation between students’ anxiety in speaking Arabic language with their acedemic achievement.
This research is focused on the role of boarding school to improve students' Arabic language skills at MAN 2 Palu. It is aimed at exploring the steps to improve their language skills and the methods and strategies used to improve Arabic language skills. The study uses field research with a qualitative descriptive design combined with observation data, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the role of boarding schools is very big in improving the ability of students ability to speak Arabic with well-organized and steps such as tutoring activities in the afternoon and evening, habituation in Arabic, memorizing mufradât at dawn, giving sanctions in the form of memorizing vocabulary, and the existence of a language improvement team that works to monitor participants' discipline in using Arabic. The discussion method in learning Arabic, and the grammar and translation method in the guidance of the kitab kuning study at night. While the strategy used is to provide a lot of linguistic exercises, such as Arabic speech and drama exercises in Arabic.
This survey research was carried out to determine the students’ level of attitude and motivation towards Arabic language learning, as well as to determine the difference in their attitude and motivation based in their demography. Approximately 288 students of IAIN Salatiga have participated in this survey. A questionnaire was administered to the students to collect the data from the. The questionnaire is four-point likert scale that consist of 21 items. The data was then analyzed using Winstep from Rasch Model and IBS SPSS. The result showed that most students (65%) have moderate level of motivation and attitude towards Arabic language learning. The female students have higher motivation as compared to the male students; therefore, teachers should encourage the male students and help them in the Arabic courses.
