One indicative behavior of someone who is depressed or has thoughts of suicide is self-harm. Self-harm or self-destructive behavior is a behavior that is usually characterized by the presence of marks on the arms after self-injury, biting oneself, burning, damaged eyes, and damaged skin (Pattison & Kahan, 1983). The purpose of this study was to determine the intensity of self-harm in adolescents to early adult using the Self-Harm Inventory by Sansone & Sansone. This study uses Self-harm Inventory developed by Sansone & Sansone (1998) with 22 items that contain questions based on the experience of having hurt yourself. This measuring instrument was distributed using an online questionnaire and as many as 1071 participants participated in this study. The results of this study found an item reliability of 1.00 where this proves that the Self-harm Inventory is good enough to be used and after conducting a validity test, three items, namely item 6, 7, and 11 are invalid because they do not meet the validity requirements according to Sumintono & Widhiarso (2015). This study proves that the Self-harm Inventory is reliable and valid if using translated items. The weakness in this study are the three items that are invalid which can be caused by a lack of respondents' understanding of these items.
