The symposium was very successful, particularly for a first-time event, due in no small part to the extraordinary efforts of our Central Gulf Coast Section, with past and present chairs Ina Jolicoeur and Guy Hardwick, and the excellent members of their symposium committee, along with Dr. Bob Latorre of the University of New Orleans.
The use of a range of additives is described which can increase the strength and modulus of cured epoxy‐amine systems by up to 70 per cent. These additives, called ‘Epoxy Fortifiers’, are liquids or low melting point solids which are incorporated into the resincuring agent mixture, prior to curing, at loadings of 10–40 parts per hundred of resin.
