From July 1990 to April 1996, 500 laparoscopic supracervical (subtotal) hysterectomies (LASH) were performed. The technique and the advantages are described here. Because of the feasibility of this technique, the quick recovery of the patient and low rate of complications, this strictly laparoscopic approach must be widely considered when a hysterectomy is indicated and if there is no risk of remaining cervical cancer.
