COBrA is a Java-based ontology editor for bio-ontologies that distinguishes itself from other editors by supporting the linking of concepts between two ontologies, and providing sophisticated analysis and verification functions. In addition to the Gene Ontology and Open Biology Ontologies formats, COBrA can import and export ontologies in the Semantic Web formats RDF, RDFS and OWL.
Products generate a large amount of information during their lifecy-cles. Small and medium enterprises are often not structured enough to enable the efficient management of such amount of information. Several tools of prod-uct lifecycle management have been developed in the last years to address this issue, but they are rarely exploited by companies, especially SMEs. The aim of our work is to present a semantic platform to integrate data along the whole product lifecycle to allow semantic search and knowledge reuse. The integra-tion of data is realized with a reference PLM ontology, containing the main concepts and relations to describe a PLM. This ontology has a modular struc-ture, so that it can be easily extended to describe concrete product lifecycles. An example of a real application of the semantic platform in an industrial case is reported

In W3C's Rule Interchange Format (RIF), FLogic rules have received considerable attention as a major logical rule formalism, while combinations of rules with Description Logic (DL) ontologies in RIF, let alone with FLogic rules, are far less developed. To mend this, we first present F-Logic# knowledge bases, a framework based on the semantics of the well-investigated dl-programs, that provides a loose coupling approach to integrating F-Logic rules and DL ontologies by allowing rules to query the ontology using external atoms. We investigate the semantical properties of this framework and define a stratified fragment that allows for fast reasoning -a necessity on a Web with large amounts of data. We then shape F-Logic# as a RIF dialect, setting it firmly in a Web context and providing an expressive combination of F-Logic rules with DL ontologies in RIF. Finally, we show how to extend the F-Logic rule engine OntoBroker towards reasoning with F-Logic#, enabling as such a first commercial implementation for loosely-coupled ontologies and rules.
