The world is observing a transition from its present centralized generation paradigm to a future with increased share of renewable energy sources (RES). Renewable energy sources (RES) based microgrids are seen as a solution to decrease reliance on depleting fossil fuel reserves provide an environment friendly solution to growing power demand. This paper put forwards a comprehensive review on controlling techniques. An overview of different control strategies of microgrid has been presented. The microgrids have been critically reviewed with respect to conventional and droop based control strategies. This paper presents a complete description, advantages and challenges of a microgrid and following a brief survey on the conventional voltage/frequency droop control, a generalized droop control (GDC) scheme and ANFIS control scheme. Finally, visualizing the wide scope of research in the micro grid; an attempt has been made to identify future research avenues.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
