The study consisted of reactor design used for transesterification process, effect of glycerol separation on transesterification reaction, determination of biodiesel quality, and mass balance analysis. The reactor was designed by integrating circulated pump/stirrer, static mixer, and sprayer that intensify the reaction in the outer tank reactor. The objective was to reduce the use of methanol in excess and to shorten the processing time. The results showed that the reactor that applied the glycerol separation was able to compensate for the decreased use of the reactant methanol from 6:1 to 5:1 molar ratio, and changed the mass balance in the product, including: (i) the increase of biodiesel production from 42.37% to 49.34%, and (ii) the reduction of methanol in excess from 42.37% to 32.89%. The results suggested that the efficiency of biodiesel production could be increased with the glycerol separation engineering. AbstrakDesain Reaktor Biodiesel dengan Pemisahan Gliserol untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Produksi Biodiesel. Penelitian ini terdiri dari desain reaktor yang digunakan untuk proses transesterifikasi, pengaruh pemisahan gliserol pada reaksi transesterifikasi, penentuan kualitas biodiesel, dan analisis neraca massa. Reaktor didesain dengan mengintegrasikan pompa/pengaduk, mixer statis, dan sprayer yang mengintensifikasi reaksi pada reaktor tangki luar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menurunkan jumlah methanol yang berlebih dan mempercepat waktu pemrosesan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa reaktor yang menggunakan pemisahan gliserol dapat mengkompensasi penurunan penggunaan reaktan methanol dari 6:1 hingga 5:1 rasio molar, dan mengubah neraca massa pada produk yang antara lain: (i) peningkatan produksi biodiesel dari 42,37% hingga 49,34%, dan (ii) penurunan metano berlebih dari 42,37% hingga 32,89%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, efisiensi produksi biodiesel dapat ditingkatkan dengan rekayasa pemisahan gliserol.
The agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sectors and also the processing industry sectors in Sumedang Regency contributed the highest GDRP value in 2014-2018, so that Sumedang Regency has a potential in agro-industrial sector. This research aims to determined the priority of superior agro-industrial products and public assessment of superior agro-industrial products that have been determined in Sumedang Regency. This research used the Comparison of Exponential Method (MPE) and ANOVA analysis. The data analysis tools were Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics 24 Software. The results of the MPE analysis showed that the priority of superior agro-industrial products in Sumedang Regency were ground coffee, roasted coffee, Cilembu roasted sweet potatoes, Cilembu sweet potato chips, red bako mole, opak ketan, white bako mole, Sumedang tofu, tempeh chips, and oncom Pasireungit. ANOVA analysis showed that there were differences of the superior agro-industrial products rank, that is Sumedang tofu, Cilembu roasted sweet potato, oncom Pasireungit, white bako mole, Cilembu sweet potato chips, tempeh chips, roasted coffee, ground coffee, red bako mole, and opak ketan.
Abstract. Gelatin is one of the most common food additives in the food and beverage industry. Gelatin is generally made of leather or pig bones, causing concerns about the halal and safety of its product. Mackerel fish bone (Scomberomorus commerson) is a waste fish that has not been utilized well and it contains 18.6% of collagen so that it can be made into gelatin. The purpose of this research is to know the relation between HCl concentration with physical and chemical characteristics of gelatin and to know the best HCl concentration for gelatin production. Based on the physical and chemical analysis of gelatin, it is known that the concentration of hydrochloric acid influences the yield, viscosity, gel strength and pH produced. The higher HCl concentration there will be decrease in the pH value, gel strength, viscosity and protein. The yield will rise to the optimum point then decrease with respect to the high HCl concentration. Gelatin with 2% HCl concentration was the best treatment, with pH value 3.83, viscosity 3.65cP, gel strength 190.50 blooms which fulfilled British Standard, yield 10.16%, protein content 43.34%. It has functional group such as amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline and 15 other amino acids, the gelatin group uptake in the region of amide wave numbers A, amides I, II and III, with a gelatin molecular weight of 290.35 g/mol.
Indonesia masih belum bisa memenuhi permintaan kopi nasional maupun internasional. Total produksi kopi Indonesia pada tahun 2017 sebesar 717.961 ton yang lebih rendah dari kebutuhan kopi Indonesia untuk pasar nasional dan internasional yang mencapai 747.790 ton. Penelitian ini berujuan untuk memperbaiki layout yang ada di PT Sinar Mayang Lestari agar dapat meningkatkan kuantitas dan kualitas produksi kopi PT Sinar Mayang Lestari demi menciptakan produksi yang optimal dan berupaya membantu memenuhi kebutuhan kopi Indonesia. PT Sinar Mayang Lestari merupakan perusahaan penanaman dan pengolahan kopi yang berlokasi di Pangalengan, Kabupaten Bandung. Perancangan ulang tata letak fasilitas produksi PT Sinar Mayang Lestari dilakukan dengan metode Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) dan software Blocplan. Dihasilkan 20 layout alternatif yang dapat dibuat yang kemudian diseleksi untuk menentukan satu layout alternatif yang paling efisien berdasarkan ongkos material handling terkecil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan layout alternatif hasil metode SLP dengan minimalisasi jarak antar departemen sekitar 33,65% dan pengurangan ongkos material handling sekitar 62,94% dari layout aktual. Perancangan ulang tata letak fasilitas produksi PT. Sinar Mayang Lestari dinilai lebih efektif menggunakan metode SLP dibanding Blocplan karena metode SLP memperhitungkan lebih banyak faktor pendukung daripada metode Blocplan.
