‘Perfect Fittings’—a company promoted by Mr Sunil Pradhan started with the conventional activity of fabrication, diversify into a specialized area and with sheer determination, handwork, and consistency made it a success. Philosophy of Pradhan brothers is to share the benefits of business with the workers. In a way it is service to the society. By motivating and educating the workers in doing skilled jobs, the company is serving the society and creating new avenues for the upcoming entrepreneurs. A very lucrative offer from one multinational company—Globe Inc. who wishes to take over the entire business of ‘Perfect Fittings’ at a handsome premium has put the entrepreneur in a dilemma, whether to take the offer that will give a great financial success but will lose their identity and the ability to help the society and livelihoods of the employees. This is a classic case of entrepreneur dilemma, and tickles the mind.

The Punjab & Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (P&MC) bank started its operations in 1984. In 1999 the all India bank depositors association felicitated the bank for the work ethics oriented to depositors’ service. Within a period of six years the bank bagged the status of scheduled bank; as in 2000 the RBI conferred scheduled status to P&M cooperative bank. The HDIL P&MC bank scam was shocking news for people in banking fraternity and the depositors of the bank. The top management officials have given huge loan to the HDIL (Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd.) and its associated companies. The amount sanctioned was as huge as it was 70% of the total loan disbursements by the bank. The total amount of fraud was said to be Rs. 4355 crore, which led to shooting up of the NPA of the bank to 73%. The scam has been called as the failure of the banking system, auditing system, and loop holes in the policies. This is a perfect case to analyse the failure of such a system by the hands of few officials.
The Hindustan Bank case is particularly interesting in the way the narration talks about the management personnel needing to be multi—talented, it’s not just about to know finance and banking rights, its more so about people management, IT skills, marketing, and other domains. It not enough to just be aware of your core specializations. To be successful in the banking industry no matter at what level one should be aware of how to lead a team, how to improve product success, know how best to complete your task, upgrade skills and become tech savvy. This case is beneficial not only for the finance student but also for students from other specializations.
