The TP of 193 internationalized innovative firms/establishments in Andalusia is studied with the data from a self-designed survey. The objectives: to identify the key variables of TP and technology adoption and to obtain a taxonomy of firms, thus enabling the study of the capacity to absorb technology and to transfer this to the regional market. This paper provides the key variables of TP, which are organizational capacity and the development of own technology. It has been established that the purchase of machinery predominates and that technology transfer has a limited effect in the region. It is noted that the classifications of Pavitt and Soete and Miozzo are not consistent with the performance of these firms in peripheral European regions.JEL classification: 032, C38, R10

El objetivo de este artículo es el estudio del proceso innovador de las empresas/establecimientos de servicios avanzados (SA) localizados en Andalucía, centrándonos en la naturaleza de dicho proceso a fin de conocer sus características y en cómo puede incidir en la transformación del entorno. Para ello, diferenciamos a través de la realización de una tipología de comportamientos/regímenes empresariales (análisis factorial y cluster) las actividades innovadoras de los SA que más pueden influir en la elevación del nivel tecnológico andaluz, de las menores; ya que las primeras (I+D), si se generalizan pueden provocar cambios significativos en los demás sectores económicos. Y en segundo lugar, nos centramos en la interrelación existente entre el proceso innovador de los SA y los de difusión y aprendizaje tecnológico empresarial.
