No abstract

This present study examined the use of Islamic magazine articles as authentic materials in teaching reading comprehension for the students of English Education Department of IAIN Batusangkar, Indonesia. This idea is based on the belief that students can be motivated and challenged to read if the selected materials pertain to their prior knowledge and experiences. In addition to this, using Islamic magazine articles as essential sources of information can positively expose students to real language. This study used qualitative research. This research was conducted to the third semester students. Observation and interview were used to collect data from 58 students who learned reading comprehension in the classroom. The research findings showed that the use of Islamic magazine articles empirically enhanced the students' reading performance and built their character values. Based on these findings it is recommended that lecturers of reading comprehension subject should be able to exploit up-to-date articles to be used as lesson materials in teaching reading comprehension at the English education department in order to avoid boredom in reading texts.

Social interaction is a communication process that connects human interpersonal relationship among people. Each communication process must build a communication model that becomes an individuals or groups identity. Communication activities have been conducted regularly in the daily life so it needs to be observed, evaluated and corrected, especially related to its communication models.The research describes the communication process among kiai, ustadz (teachers), and santri (students) of TMI Al-Amien in 24-hour-activities, formal and non-formal activities. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative with phenomenological approach. It analyzes the communication process using the transaction, transmission, ritual, expressive, publicity and reception models.The result of analysis includes the two models of communication among kiai, ustadz (teachers), and santri (students): first, in the process of new students acceptance, Friday dialog program, and student conseling, the communication is modeled as two-direction communication dealing DeVitos communication model, second, in Perlantasi program, the communication model used is one-direction communication dealing with Harold Dwight Lasswells communication model.Keyword : Social Interaction, Communication Pattern, Pondok Pesantren

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan LKPD pada materi mitigasi dan adaptasi bencana kelas X SMA dengan pendekatan Scientific Approach. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development/R&D) Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan kelayakan LKPD materi materi mitigasi dan adaptasi bencana memperoleh kategori sangat layak menurut ahli materi dan ahli media. Hal ini didukung dengan hasil uji coba lapangan dari 30 subjek uji coba sebanyak 66,6% respon berada pada tingkat sangat layak dan sebesar 33,3% pada tingkat layak. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of Gross Regional Domestic Bruto and District Against Minimum Wage In Samarinda City. In this research used Cobb Douglas analysis, but it is also aided by a computerized system that uses SPSS. After doing research with reference to the secondary data, it is concluded there are two variables that affect the the recruitment of the workersthat is Gross Regional Domestic Bruto and District Against Minimum Wage.
