This study was carried out to examine color/pattern variation in some C. vulnerata populations in northwestern of Turkey. Three different phenotypes were recognized according to wing color/pattern, two of which are C. vulnerata var. typica and C. vulnerata var. helvetica. The third phenotype has a different pattern from all known variants of this species. The data about the color/pattern variation of C. vulnerata were examined for the first time in Turkey with this study. Besides color/pattern differences, size differences were examined. The samples were classified according to their color/pattern differences and also the total length of the individuals were measured. In order to assure whether the differences are statistically significant among the variants and between sexes, One-Way ANOVA and independent t-test were used. Differences in body size among all variants were significant (P <0.01). The populations of C. vulnerata var. helvetica are overwhelmed in the region. In this variant, it was also found that there was a sexual dimorphism in size, and male individuals were larger than females. This feature was significant (♀♀ n = 50, ♂♂ n = 50, P <0.01). In the other variants, no significant difference was found between the sexes.
In this study, Cicadellidae (Hemiptera: Cicadomorpha) specimens collected from Sinop and its surrounding in 2016-2018 were evaluated. Overall, 27 species belonging to 7 subfamilies were identified from the study area. Number of specimens, localities and distribution of species in Turkey are given. Of the identified species, 11 are the first records for the local fauna of Sinop and 5 for the Black Sea Region of Turkey.
Tshurtshurnella sinopei sp. nov. is described after the specimens collected in Sinop, Western Black Sea Region of Turkey, in August 2017. External morphology including male and female genital structures of the new species are described and illustrated.
In this study, Cixiidae and Issidae (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha) species collected from various localities in Sinop and Kastamonu between the years 2016-2018 were evaluated. 12 species belonging to 7 genera from Issidae and 4 species belonging to 4 genera from Cixiidae were determined. In addition, distributional data of the species in Turkey and in the world, and collection localities were given. Among the identified species, Kervillea placophora, Mycterodus confusus (Issidae) and Reptalus panzeri (Cixiidae) were recorded for the first time from the Black Sea Region of Turkey.
