The rapid development of wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15.4 protocol hasallowed the deployment of wireless sensor networks withthousands of sensor devices in physical environments where theconstruction of a fixed infrastructure is inconvenient orimpossible. System designers have been facing the challenges ofusing unreliable wireless channels and limited battery power todevelop software and protocols for sensor networks. This workfocuses on the issues of robustness and efficiency in the designand implementation of wireless sensor networks using SunSPOTs device. Our implementations not only allow multiplesensor nodes to simultaneously connect to the basestation, butalso improve the robustness by handling loss of connection (dueto node movements or radio interference). To support flexibleand efficient data collection, a sensor collects data duringdisconnected status, and automatically uploads the stored datawhen it is in the range of a basestation. The testbed is useful forresearches on human mobility pattern, environmentalmonitoring, and health care, to name a few
A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to cooperatively monitor environmental conditions, such as battlefield data and personal health information, and some environment
In recent years, indoor air quality is being a serious problem. The elevated levels of carbon dioxide make dramatic changes of climate. Global climate is suffering from environmental crises. High concentrations of carbon dioxide levels will have a bad effect on the environment and human may cause hypoxia, numb hands and feet, lose consciousness or even death. In this paper, we will set up a system to monitor the ambient air quality at indoor applications which using carbon dioxide detectors to combine mobile devices and networks to detect air quality. Users can get information by using a mobile phone or computer to read QR code or mobile communication confirm whether the places are safe and comfortable environments. The primary experiments proved that the system can be used to monitor the indoor air quality and temperature effectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
