FITC-HES estimates PV more accurately than 125I. FITC-HES should replace radioactive tracers for assessing BV. Comparing the estimates of PV with molecules of differing molecular weights may have clinical utility as an indicator of ED.

Liver regeneration in the rat was studied after intraportal infusion of fresh serum taken from partially hepatectomised and laparotomised donors. An inhibitory effect was demonstrated in the uptake of ³H-thymidine into liver DNA when infusion of serum from laparotomised donors took place immediately after partial hepatectomy. The experiments lend support to the hypothesis that there is in the serum of the normal laparotomised animal an agent concerned in the control of liver regeneration.
