The results of investigation of volumetric magnetostriction of a ferromagnetic composite consisting of silicon steel particles dispersed in an elastomer matrix and its relaxation are presented. The composite consisted of silicon steel particles of 0.15–0.20 mm in size, which were dispersed in a polymerized silicone. The filling factor of the composite by these particles amounted to 0.4, 0.6 or 0.8. The investigation was carried out by means of the pycnometric method in a magnetic field with the induction of 0–8 T produced by Bitter's magnet. It was found that according to the filling factor and the induction of the applied magnetic field, relative changes in the sample volume amounted to (0.37–112.8) × 10-4 and the relaxation time of the volumetric magnetostriction was 2.12–85.8 s.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
