South Caspian and Upper Kura Basins are a genetically linked system created in a Mesozoic extensional setting with a complex Cenozoic sediment fill history. This study presents new maps delineating these basins, and an interpretation of the regional geodynamic history. Over 150 onshore and offshore borehole temperature measurements, geothermal gradients, and surface heat flow data were integrated into the existing tectonic framework.
