The ,8-elimination procedure was used to obtain two major fragments of Mycobacterium avium glycopeptidolipid antigens. The lipopeptide fragment, not the oligosaccharide, diminished the mitogen-induced blastogenic response of spleen cells at concentrations lower than those which affected viability.
