Evidence is provided that warming of the North Atlantic is responsible for the northward extensions of the ranges of warm water ¢sh species, causing increasing numbers of southern immigrant species to appear o¡ the Cornish coast of the UK. The increasing number of immigrant species is signi¢cantly correlated with temperature increases in the North Atlantic over the last 40 years.Fish immigration and Atlantic warming A.R.D. An investigarion into the incidence and distribution of 'ectoparasites' in the close personal environment of patients with chronic unexplained dermatoses is described. Acari were found in 356 samples from 124 of 253 (50%) patients investigated. The house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and related species accounted for 157 (44/0) of the 'parasites' identified. The clinical and laboratory parasite recovery techniques are described and their limitations considered. The possible significance of the results is discussed and the need for further work emphasized.
