Development heading in thin seams is complicated by large volumes of conjointly cut adjacent rocks which are often very hard. It is expedient to to prepare a new longwall by driving one heading and to use the previous longwall as a ventilation or conveyor roadway. The technology of roadway recycling in thin seams during top-downward mining is already applied. The technology of roadway recycling in bottomupward mining (a ventilation roadway is recycled as a conveyor roadway) has never been applied in Russian mines. The authors illustrate feasibility of recycling of a lower level ventilation roadway as an upper level conveyor roadway in terms of Berezovskaya mine in Kuzbass. The engineering solutions and the support design for the roadway are substantiated, and the measures of reinforcement of the support to prevent rocks falls are provided. The study was performed jointly with RANK 2 LLC.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
