Using shaped refractories in the linings of the steel teeming (casting) ladles ensures a longer service life of the linings as compared to the linings obtained using unmolded refractories (ramming bodies). The application of unfired periclase-chromite refractories containing boric acid for conducting out-of-furnace treatment of steels is well known [i]. However, boric acid being hazardous (it has a Class III risk), the application of the technology of unfired refractories is restricted. In order to develop refractories Using the shells of fused periclase and periclase-chromite, we studied ii charges (Table i). All the charges (batches) contain 4% boron-magnesium additive (TU 113-12-151-84) above 100%; the results of its thermal analysis are shown in Fig. I.Before mixing, crushing of the materials was carried out using a jaw crusher and grinding was carried out in a ball mill for obtaining the 3-0 mm fraction. Thereafter, fine milling was carried out using a M-400 vibratory mill and screening was conducted in a vibrating screen and in a manually fed screen. The Nos. 1-4 and 7-9 bodies were prepared in a double-shaft Z-shaped mixer maintaining a feed charge of 150 kg. The Nos. 0, 5, 6, and i0 bodies were prepared using laboratory edgerunner mills; in this case, the weight of the charge amounted to i0-ii kg. We followed the loading sequence that is conventionally used for granular bodies.Tem )erature, ~ "~
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
