ChemInform Abstract About 50 title compounds are prepared and tested for their pharmacological activities. Most of the products exhibit significant hypotensive and weak to moderate diuretic, antiinflammatory and CNS depressant effects. The centrally acting hypotensive derivative (VII) (yield given in g) is found to possess the most suitable profile of hypotensive activity (investigated by QSAR: "quantitative structure-activity relationship" study).

Purified steroidal fractions of ,guggulua show a marked inhibition of ADP, adrenaline and serotonin induced platelet aggregation. Their inhibitory effect is comparable to the .effect o f ,Clofi-&ratea.
