The ultrasound protocol implemented in this work has been shown to be reliable. It therefore offers the opportunity to quantify the structures concerned and better understand their contributions to foot function.

The results from this small series of patients suggest that arthrodesis following failed total ankle replacement with two parallel screws and bone graft may be an effective technique.

Deformities of the foot and ankle in neuromuscular conditions are often complex and occur at multiple levels. Careful examination of the patient is key to identifying the deformity, and whether it is flexible or fixed. This will help to guide management options. This paper outlines treatment options for the common deformity patterns seen in clinical practice.
