A rapid extraction and spectrophotometric determination of palladium with N-p-chlorophenylbenzohydroxamic acid (N-p-CI-BHA) is described. The palladium forms an orange coloured complex with N-p-CI-BHA at pH 3.0. It is extracted with chlorobenrene and has a maximum absorbance at 430 nm. Its molar absorption coefficient is 7 . 0~ lo2 1 mol-' cm-l. The sensitivity of the Pd-p-CI-BHA complex is enhanced by the addition of dithizone and has a maximum absorbance at 520 nm with a molar absorption coefficient of 3 . 0~ lo3 1 mol-l cm-I. The effects of pH. solvents, reagent concentration and diverse ions are studied.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
