The technology of processing sludge includes electromagnetic activation of raw materials, catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, and oxidative desulfurization. Preliminary activation reduces electromagnetic temperature catalytic processes at 60-80°C, increasing the yield of light products, reduce sulfur content in liquid products at 13-19% by weight, coke formation, and reduces gassing. Keywords Oil sludge Á Electromagnetic activation Á Catalytic cracking Hydrocracking Á Oxidative desulfurization At present, the refineries, the acute problem of recycling and disposal of sludge (PS) as well as available technological solutions aimed at processing of oily waste, cannot be the basis of a uniform method of processing sludge [1][2][3]. Calculations are performed to determine ionization potentials and wave parameters for different types of bonds, which allows the minimum time of activation of hydrocarbons containing those bonds to be calculated as well. Results are presented from a study of the effect of the parameters of electromagnetic radiation on the yields of products in the thermal cracking of non-hydrofined oil sludge. The results were used to construct the first mathematical models that make it possible to both interpolate and extrapolate the parameters of the sludge-cracking operation. The most salient trend in the development of processes for refining petroleum and petroleum fractions is the creation of complexes comprised of process units that allow more thorough refining of hydrocarbons. With this as a goal, researchers in the industrially developed nations are inventing new catalysts and reactors that operate by different technologies -ideal-displacement flows and mixing flows, semi-continuous systems, and systems with a constant volume [1, 2].Recent years have seen extensive laboratory research being performed to intensify physico-chemical processes through the use of various types of radiation: magnetic, electromagnetic, acoustic, SHF, and combinations thereof. The molecules of hydrocarbons in petroleum fractions are activated by different 53 mechanisms, including: the accumulation of kinetic energy and, thus, the accumulation of potential energy as well; the formation of a reserve of energy in the form of excited vibrational electronic energy, with molecules undergoing the transition from the ground state to an excited state; the formation of complexes of excited molecules in the form of Millikan particles -complexes with charge transfer; the formation of hydrogen bonds and the accumulation of energy by the creation of dipoles in molecules of hydrocarbons, etc. [3][4][5][6][7][8][9].Thus, it is important to know different parameters of hydrocarbon molecules and parameters of the bonds between the atoms in those molecules. Among those parameters are: the bond energy; the wavelength that is capable of exciting the bond; the frequency of vibration of the bonds in a molecule; the wave number; electronegativity, etc.Our goal here is to study the effect of the activation of non-hydrofined petroleum sludge (NPS) by electromagnetic radiation on the yield of light products in thermal cracking. We used oil sludge obtained from the bottom deposits in the buffer ponds of the bio-cleaning facilities at the "Bashneft'-Ufaneftekhim" Oil Company. The physico-chemical properties of the sludge are shown below:Content, wt. %
