Derivatives. -Short reflux of equimolar amounts of aminobenzimidazole (I) with benzaldehydes (II) and dimedone (III) or with products of the intermolecular condensation of the latter, i.e. (V) and (VI), in DMF results in the regioselective formation of linearly fused benzimidazoquinazolines (IV).
