Prolonged breastfeeding was significantly associated with low BMD in the lumbar spine and higher prevalence of osteoporosis. However, the number of deliveries or age at the time of childbirth did not influence BMD.
Poly(butylene adipate-co-succinate) (PBAS), a saturated aliphatic polyester cured by dicumyl peroxide (DCP), was prepared and the viscoelastic property was investigated. The viscosity of crosslinked PBAS increased, and it exhibited rubbery behavior as the content of curing agent was increased. The results suggested that the viscosity and elasticity of PBAS could be regulated by adding a small amount of DCP; hence, the processibility could be improved. Prior to foaming, a proper formulation of blowing agent (blowing agent/urea activator ϭ 100:8 phr) was examined to prepare expanded PBAS foam. Low-density PBAS expanded foams were prepared using a chemical blowing agent and DCP. The effect of the foaming temperature, additive content, and curing agent content on the blowing ratio and morphology of expanded PBAS foams was investigated. A closed-cell structure PBAS foam of high blowing ratio (density about 0.05 g/cm 3 ) could be obtained by adding 3 phr DCP. To manufacture expanded PBAS foam under 0.1 g/cm 3 using a chemical blowing agent, the storage modulus of the matrix polymer should exceed the loss modulus by enough to stabilize growing bubbles.
There has been a great deal of research on the effects of ground rubber (GR) on the cure characteristics of GR-filled rubber compounds. It has been known that the cure systems of the rubber matrix and GR also had an effect on the cure characteristics and physical properties of GR-filled compounds. In this study, the variation of the crosslink density and crosslink types of recured vulcanizates and fresh vulcanizates, with respect to the cure systems, were investigated by using a three-layered model. In addition, the adhesion forces between recured vulcanizates and fresh vulcanizates were measured, and the fracture surfaces were examined. Depending on the cure systems, the changes in the crosslink density and crosslink types of recured and fresh vulcanizates varied significantly and the failure modes of adhesion specimens were also different.
A method evaluating the economic efficiency of piggery waste treatment plant based on kinetics for nitrogen removal performances is executed in this study and five full scale plants were evaluated, monitored intensively during one year under steady-state conditions. The performance data from those surveyed plants were recalculated by first-order kinetic equation instead of the Monod's equation, and the nitrogen removal kinetics related with COD/TKN ratios. Two plants adapting two extreme strategies for pre treatment, 'excess phase separation', and 'minimum phase separation', were evaluated by the assessment of life cycle cost (LCC). Although the compared two plants use an opposite strategy to each other, similar evaluation results are deduced by nitrogen removal efficiencies and operational and construction costs. But the proportions of constituent elements are as different as two opposite strategies, so electrical and construction costs are inversely proportional to chemical costs and operational costs respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
