The world has become a global village as competition among banks is now intense. Globalization is fuelling increased competition in Nigerian banking industry and as a result, banks are challenged to adopt customer centred strategies that would enable them to gain customer loyalty, maximize profitability and survive the competition. There is no business that survives without customers’ patronage and Islamic banks are not an exception. Customers are key stakeholders to the survival of any business, thus, satisfying the customer through providing high quality services is core to Islamic banking business. The aim of the study is to examine the mediating role of customer satisfaction in investigating the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty in non-interest bank i.e. Jaiz Bank of Kano state metropolis, Nigeria. The variance based (SEM) technique is employed in analyzing the hypothesized model of the study. Service quality positively and significantly influences customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, whereas, customer satisfaction does not significantly mediate the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty among customers of Jaiz bank in Kano state metropolis, Nigeria. The study recommends for providing high quality service in order to achieved maximum loyalty from the customers. It was further recommended on the need for reviving of the existing regulatory bodies or institutions that will ensure proper implementation of good service quality delivery among non-interest banks in Nigeria.
Micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) face numerous obstacles, such as a lack of funding, which hinder their growth and expansion. They must have access to long-term funding to improve and modernise their operations competitively. This study aims to incorporate Shariah-compliant crowd funding among MSMEs in Borno state of Nigeria. It applies partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) on a sample of 341 MSMEs and recommends the need to educate and enlighten them about the benefits of Islamic crowdfunding. The study also recommends the need to produce guidelines that will help in developing a legal and regulatory framework for the incorporation of crowdfunding into corporate financing structures. Finally, it is recommended that religious leaders at various levels organise educational programmes on the importance of Shariah-compliant crowdfunding.
There are persistent increasing number of scenarios in Singer and Dawanau markets of Kano metropolis which are seen as unethical among which includes deception, inappropriate weight and measures, hoarding and price manipulation as well as false-swearing to support a sale. This study therefore assesses the determinants of Islamic business ethics practices among Muslim entrepreneurs in Kano metropolis, Nigeria. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique is employed in analysing the hypothesized model of the study. The results indicate that entrepreneurs fairly adhere to Islamic business ethics practice while legal and organizational factors significantly affect Islamic business ethics, but Individual factors do not. The study recommends the need for Kano State Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with market organizational leaders to engage in public enlightenment on the importance of business as an act of worship (Ibadat). It was suggested that organization leaders i.e. Market leaders (trade union leaders) should liaise with Kano state Shariah Commission to set standard for Islamic business ethics whereas Hisbah Board to enforce compliance. The study further suggests that the concept of ethics should be incorporated in teaching and learning curriculum.
The Nigerian insurance industry has been associated with low patronage, thus contributing less than 1% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The marketing and distribution segment of the Nigerian oil and Gas industry is facing multiple challenges including difficulty in transporting product through pipelines which necessitate the use of alternative means of transportation by road (Trucks). The main objective of this study is to empirically examine the determinants of patronage of motor vehicle Takaful by members of National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO-PTD) Kano State. The population of the study is 320 registered members of NARTO-PTD. Using Taro Yamane sample size formula, the study arrives at a sample of 178 respondents who were selected using simple Random Sampling Techniques. Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) method was employed to test the hypotheses of the study. The result reveals that while awareness is insignificant but perception and religiosity significantly affect patronage of motor vehicle takaful by members of NARTO-PTD in Kano State. The study recommends Takaful Companies to develop policies that will further encourage those highly religious and attract those that are not highly religious through organizing educative programs in masjids and other religious avenues and places of worship. Lastly, the study recommends developing policies that will strengthening the perception (NARTO-PTD) members toward Takaful.
The increasingly significant development of global tourism indirectly also has a positive impact on developing countries such as Indonesia and Nigeria. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the development of sharia tourism in halal business, and its role in supporting the sustainable development goals (SDGs) program in Indonesia and Nigeria. The method used in this research was qualitative. Data collection techniques used by the literature from various sources. The analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative, outlining the development and potential for developing sharia tourism in Indonesia and Nigeria. Then outlines the role of its tourism in supporting the SGDs program. The results show that the sharia tourism sector has a role to support SDGs, based on its characteristics and the halal process involves many parties, so it has an impact on many parties, involving transportation service providers, ticket sales/travel agents, lodging and hotels, culinary, souvenirs and handicrafts, so move many economic actors. Sharia tourism supports SDGs, and welfare reduces poverty, food security, and economic growth provides employment, provides infrastructure, provides justice, and can build partnerships globally. In addition, Indonesia seems to be more productive than Nigeria in leading sharia tourism. Thus, the tourism sector plays an important role in the world economy because it is considered one of the contributors to economic growth in Indonesia and Nigeria.
