The change in cities after the industrial revolution has brought many problems with it. In particular, it has been observed that environmental problems have increased over time, and in the second half of the 1900s, many initiatives towards the environment were carried out with the internationalization of environmental problems. In line with the ecological problems experienced, models have emerged that emphasize the lifestyles for the understanding of sustainable development. Eco-municipality is also a management model based on sustainable development. The aim of the study is to introduce the eco-municipality model and to find an answer to the question of whether the eco-municipality model can be applied in line with the Municipality Law No. 5393 and the Metropolitan Municipality Law No. 5216.
