Fluctuations in rice production due to conversion of paddy field to other various land use defected the rice production in Indonesia, and in turn it may endanger the food security. Efforts to utilize hydroponics as a technology of vegetable production in limited land availability has developed. However, the practice of hydroponics in rice plants is still limited due to the availability of special nutrient. This study aims to determine the benefits of silicate rice husk extract on the growth of rice hydroponics. The research design used was complete randomized block design. The observed growth parameters are : plant height, electrical conductivity of nutrients and pH. The observed data were analyzed using variance analysis. If the results of variance analysis are significant, the analysis will be proceed with Duncan multiple range test. The results showed that application of rice husk silica extract of 20 ml/L through leaves gave the same response with sodium silicate (Na2O3Si) application through nutrient solution, but had significant effect on the change of electrical conductivity value and pH of nutrient solution. The results showed that silicates derived from organic materials can replace the role of silicates derived from inorganic materials on paddy hydroponic.
Strawberry becomes one of the popular plants in agro-tourism by combining strawberry plantation with culinary tourism. Increasing growth and yield of strawberry plant can be achieved by applying liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) of vegetable waste and planting media. This research was conducted to study interaction between LOF and planting medium (PM) and to inquire about the best dosage of LOF and planting medium for the growth and yield of strawberry. This research was conducted in the sub-district of Cibiru, Bandung City, West Java. The research design was Randomized Block Design with two factors and three replications. The first factor was vegetable waste of LOF with four treatments level respectively: p0: without LOF application, p1:250 ml, p2: 500 ml, and p3: 750 ml. The second factor was planting media with three treatments level respectively : m0: without husk charcoal, m1: (1:1) soil and husk charcoal, m2: (1:2) soil and husk charcoal. The research finding came up by the existence of interaction in leaf width with the highest number by 835.42 cm2 in combination of p2m2 treatment.
The application of salt fertilizer to increase the productivity of lettuce in long term application will decline soil fertility. Implementation of totally organic farming in some region cannot increase productivity rapidly. The application of vermicompost combined with inorganic fertilizer is a solution to overcome decline lettuce production on the first time implementation of the organic farming system. This research aims to study the dose application of vermicompost on the growth of lettuce plant. The research conducted at Cisurupan-Garut West Java Province with altitude 1183 m above sea level from January to March 2018. The method used in this research is randomize block design with seven treatments (A = without vermicompost, B = 5, C = 10, D = 15, E = 20, F = 25, G = 30 t ha-1), and four replication. The growth parameter observed in this research was plant height, number of leaves, fresh plant weight, plant dry weight, and shoot-root ratio. The data observation parameter than analysed with variance analyse at five per cent signification level. The result of this research shows that the application of 5 t ha−1 vermicompost improves plant growth significantly.
Mung beans are plants that have high economic value but the production of mung beans in Indonesia is still low. Dung serves to provide nutrients for plants, improve soil structure, and retain water in the soil. MOL (local microorganisms) banana corm has a number of microorganisms that can help plants absorb nutrients found in the soil. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the interaction between types of dung (dung) and banana corm local micro organization (MOL) on the growth and yield of mung beans Vima 2 and to determine the type of dung and the MOL dose of banana corm that was best for the growth and yield of mung bean plants. The method used in this study was a randomized block design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is the type of dung = no dung (j0), chicken dung (dung) (jl), goat dung (j2) and cow dung (j3). The second factor was the MOL dose of banana weevil, 0 ml plant-1 (m0), 50 ml plant-1 (m1) and 100 ml plant-1 (m2). The results showed that the application of dung and the MOL dose of banana corm did not show any interaction, but there was an independent influence by the type of dung on the parameters of plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds planted, and harvest index, so that the type of dung that gives optimum results in mung bean cultivation is chicken dung.
The research was conducted in the Garden of Development of Horticultural Seeds of West Java Province. The purpose of research to know the influence of age of rootstock and budding method to the success of citrus (Citrus sp). Research method using Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors. The first factor is the age of the Understump (rootstock) consisting of 5 levels, namely the stem age of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 months, while the second factor is the budding method consisting of 2 levels, namely T (T-budding) budding method and the budding (Chip-budding). The results showed that the treatment of budding method and the age of rootstock did not interact in all observation variables. The treatment of budding method and the age of rootstock independently had a very significant effect on the high percentage of shoots, no significant effect on the stem bud diameter and significantly affect the number of leaves. The best treatment on the method of budding is the method of Insert (Chip-Budding), while at the lowest rootstock is the best age of rootstock 6 months.
