Four new donor–acceptor copolymers were synthesized by using benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene and benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]difuran as donors and thieno[3,4-b]thiophene was used as the acceptor building block.
Two new semiconducting polymers poly{4,8-bis(4decylphenylethynyl)benzo [1,2-b:4,5-(P2) have been synthesized. These polymers were tested in bulk heterojunction solar cells yielding power conversion efficiencies of 1.19% for P1 and 0.79% for P2. The surface morphology of the solar cell devices indicated that both the polymers display a granular morphology with smoother films displaying higher power conversion efficiencies. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
