The research aims analyze the meanings of work for military police officers and the meanings’ associations with the concepts of masculinity. Based on quantitative research, three hundred Brazilian military police responded to a structured questionnaire classified on a five-point Likert scale. Data was collected in person and online using Qualtrics software, then tabulated and organized using JASP v software. 0.14.1. The results shows that military police officers perceive recognition of their work, based on autonomy. Moreover, they see their work as strongly related to moral rectitude and social utility. They associate the meanings of their work with issues of dignity and respect for human rights and the feeling of generating positive impacts and results for society. However, this also results in a homogenization of the individual within the organization: they cannot show emotions, must be heterosexual, withstand provocations, be conservative in terms of the values of the institution and the profession.

Cerebral cavernous malformations are rarely described in children. Giant cavernous malformations are exceptional in this group of patients. The authors reports a case of an eleven months boy, who begins at the sixth month of life with epilepsy. Medical therapy was advised and imagenological studies were carried out. An IRM was performed, and shows a giant cavernous malformation in the right parietal lobe. Surgery was carried out, with complete resection of the lesion. In the postoperative period and at more than a year of follow up, he was free of crisis. We report the case because of the rarity of a giant cavernous angioma in a patient less than a year old.

This study aims to analyze the costs behavior of Brazilian companies listed on BM&FBOVESPA between 1995 and 2015, with the approval of 12.305/10 Law, which has instituted the Brazilian Solid Waste Policy (BSWP), in order to seek indications of biased behaviors, once there is no consensus in the literature on how costs are affected by the introduction of sustainable practices. In this sense, the periods before and after the Law are analyzed comparatively for all sectors, in a general and in an individual way. Thus, descriptive measures are analyzed, linear trend line, t-Test of Student and data regression in panel. The joint analysis findings do not provide enough evidences to say that the average of the indexes Cost of Goods Sold/Net Sales Revenue (COGS/Revenue), Total Costs/Net Sales Revenue (TC/Revenue) and Net Income/Net Sales Revenue (NI/Revenue) changed with the BSWP, as well as it is not possible to say that it impacts on companies costs, expenses and profits; On the other hand, the sector analysis results indicate that the BSWP impacted in a negative way in the Textile, Steel and Metallurgy, Construction and Industrial Machinery sectors, when it is considered the costs increase and the profitability reduction.

Objetivo: O presente estudo visa identificar as principais dificuldades enfrentadas pelos proprietários de lojas físicas ao implementarem uma plataforma e-commerce. Método / abordagem: Desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa qualitativa de cunho exploratório por meio de entrevistas com dez proprietários de lojas físicas, os quais possuem uma plataforma e-commerce em funcionamento e atuam em diversos segmentos de negócio. Principais resultados: Entre as dificuldades enfrentadas, observa-se maior carga de trabalho, a falta de profissionais qualificados para executar a operação, dificuldade de contratação e confiança nos serviços das agências digitais, dificuldade com a produção de conteúdo para os produtos divulgados no e-commerce e dificuldade de integração do estoque da loja física e da loja online. Contribuições metodológicas / sociais / gerenciais: Os gestores brasileiros precisam estar atentos ao planejarem e implementarem um novo canal de vendas como um e-commerce. A gestão de uma loja online demanda conhecimento, planejamento, organização e integração entre as operações realizadas na loja física e na loja online. Originalidade / relevância: A presente pesquisa possibilitou compreender as dificuldades de implementação de uma plataforma e-commerce no contexto de empresas brasileiras já consolidadas no varejo físico. Com o intuito de mitigar as dificuldades, foi possível mapear os pontos de atenção que devem ser previstos pelos gestores brasileiros ao iniciarem a implementação de um e-commerce.
