Di-n-butyltin(IV) compound of vanillin was obtained by one pot reaction during the attempted synthesis of di-butyltin(IV) complex of 3-Hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylideneamino)propionic acid. However, the expected compound could not be isolated, rather, the compound was crystallized as the dibutyltin(IV) complex of vanillin. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity, fluorescence, UV, IR, 1 H-, 13 C-and 119 Sn-NMR spectroscopy. 119 Sn-NMR spectroscopy study indicates the presence of exo and endo cyclic tin centers with five coordinate geometry in solution. The structure of the di-n-butyltin(IV) compound was determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis. The structure of the compound exhibits bis-tetraorganodistannoxane units involving hexa-and penta-coordinated environments around exo and endo cyclic tin atoms, respectively. The central endo-Sn . . . Sn contact is 3.361 Å and the two independent exo-Sn . . . endo-Sn distances are 3.489(2) and 3.844(2) Å.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
