This research aims to determine the number of articles dealing with overtourism and undertourism. The authors assume that there is not enough literature dealing with undertourism, while the concept of overtourism has been researched extensively. Undertourism is an underrated concept that requires further research. The selected 41 papers were collected from Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases according to basic search criteria. A quantitative and qualitative approach was used to reveal important facts about authors, sources, under topics, co-citation, and to classify selected papers according to the methods, techniques, and themes examined. The literature review results revealed that there are numerous papers about overtourism but few about the concept of undertourism. The paper's deficit concerning undertourism demands further research, with a precise and clear definition of the concept, its history, and implications for the sustainability of expanding the existing tourism paradigm.
Purpose-Food tourism is becoming one of the most popular special interest tourism niches and is necessary for destinations to provide kind of experiences these types of customers will seek out. The study aims to test the experience quality framework in the context of food tourism to gain better understanding of who food tourist are and what is their perceived experience of a visit to an olive oil tasting room. Methodology-Data was collected in July of 2018 at an Istrian olive oil tasting room using an onsite questionnaire consisting of questions regarding experience quality dimensions, outcomes, motivation and sociodemographic characteristics of the visitors. A total of 129 visitors participated in the survey. Descriptive and bivariate statistics were used to analyze the data. Findings-Results showed that entertainment and education were the highest rated experience dimensions while the environment was the lowest rated dimension. Significant differences were found for male and female visitors and visitors with higher and average and lower than average income in regard to the environment and functional value dimensions. No significant differences in experience level were found in regard to employment, education or the motivations of the visitors. Contribution-Theoretically, research results provide a multi-dimensional view of experience quality and validate network of constructs in the context of food tourism. The study also enhances the knowledge regarding food tourists through their experiences and in managerial terms allows stakeholders in food tourism to use the proposed dimensions to enhance the development and marketing strategies of their tourism niche.
Purpose – In recent researches, the concept of trust in a project process appears to be the one of the most significant elements. A project process involves numerous actors with often clashing interests difficult to adjust during cooperation, but the leading aim is common to all - an accomplished project. This empirical research analyzes two dimensions of trust, according to Rousseau’s dimensions of trust (calculus-based and relational-based trust), in a relationship with the satisfaction with a work relationship in a project process and project outcomes, success or failure, to try to explore its mutual correlation and its predictors influence on project outputs. Methodology – A questionnaire was delivered through Survey Monkey platform on 750 e-mail addresses in Croatia with a response rate of 13.2% (99 respondents). A correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze collected data. Findings – The results of an analysis revealed that trust is an essential factor in the project process, which leads to the satisfaction of players with the working relationships in a project process, and to the project’s success or failure. Further the results revealed that trust is perceived as a base operator in a project process. Trust deficit can point to significant issues even before the dawn of project process, so it is a prerequisite to bring together all targets, and clashed interests. Contribution – A trust in a project process is a complex construct which demands further debate, and this analysis is an attempt to add further scientific insight about the relevance of trust in a relationship among the participants, and at the same time provides an application design with the opportunity to foresee a behavior of stakeholders engaged in a process. A wise leader will gather on all components in an equation, trying to identify the most effective approach to carry out and execute the project with success.
Recently, medical tourism became one of the rapidly growing industries globally with 25% growth yearly with the value of over 200 billion euros. North America, Asia and Europe hold the most significant share of this value. According to The Medical Tourism Market – Global Industry Analysis Report, the forecast by 2027 will be a value of 272.70 billion US dollars. Croatia has strong potential for developing the medical tourism industry as an integral and essential part of the whole tourism industry in Croatia. But, lack of political will and public sector efforts decrease these opportunities. Fundamental healthcare reform is needed and improves outdated infrastructure with low service quality, including accommodation and accompanying catering and recreational facilities. Health care tourism is not competitive in this exceptionally demanding market. Singapore, India and Turkey can be excellent examples of doing thing rights, showing the path to success to the Croatian medical tourism industry. Where is Croatia right now, and what can be done to move forward is a big question. Several authors offer possible solutions that can lead to achieving objectives and goals stated in the National Strategy for Development of Healthcare and Action Plan until 2028. The future development of the medical tourism industry is an exciting area both in applicative and scientific fields, which can encourage further scientific efforts to explore more deeply the subject.
Trust is a highly recommended component in the project equation management process. According to Rousseau (1984), there are three types of trust: calculus-based trust, relational-based trust, and institutional-based trust, which are adopted to justify the importance of the existence of trust in a strategic project: Grand Park Hotel Rovinj in Rovinj and ACI Marine, Rovinj. Trust is an imperative condition in the project process, which can secure the achievement of the project. If there is an atmosphere of trust in the process environment, the project is successful. All parties involved in this project had a common vision and acted together, so it was assumed that there were no differences between the groups, corresponding to the trust concept proposed in the main hypothesis. A descriptive analysis (cross tabulation and Chi-square) was adopted to investigate the concept of the importance of trust and satisfaction with the working relationship in a strategic project between investors and local government in terms of project outcomes. The project was huge, but we choose to examine only those representatives who matter, with decision-making power and operational chiefs, 20 respondents in total. The sample size was small, but it covered the most important representatives of two groups, and, according to Sandelowski (1995), it could be a covered requirement for validation, despite its size. The project budget was €750 million and the project duration time was two years. The study results demonstrate that the perception of trust based on relationships and trust on an institutional basis is different between investors and local government, but they share a mutual agreement on the perception of trust based on calculations. In terms of satisfaction with the working relationship and project outcome, their perceptions are likewise distinctive. The study results supported the main hypothesis, but solely in relationship to calculus-based trust construct. The other results revealed a considerable degree of disagreement between two actors’ groups, corresponding to the relational-based and institutional-based trust, and to the satisfaction with a work relationship. These results are truly obvious and symptomatic indicators of the complexity which every project process brings with it. The concept of trust challenges researchers even now, although there are very many studies referring to it. This concept covers many scientific fields, revealing its complex and challenging nature, and opening a space for deeper exploration. The relationship between the parties in any network includes this concept as a conditio sine qua non. Strategic projects are a yet unknown area asking for further scientific debate with the principal objective: successful outcome. This analysis is a limited addition to the strategic project area research offering ample area to investigate a liaison between public and private sector in a specific scheme.
