The optimal treatment of a patient with a malignant brain tumor requires attention to the physical and emotional well-being of the affected individual and the family. We review the concept of hope as a critical support modality throughout the continuum of care for brain tumor patients and families. We offer suggestions based on our own observations over 17 years as well as the lessons taught to us by our patients and their families over that time and through a structured interview process.
Abstract. Gaussian polynomials are used to define bases with good multiplicative properties for the algebra K * (K) of cooperations in K-theory and for the invariants under conjugation.
We introduce Γ-homology, the natural homology theory for E ∞ -algebras, and a cyclic version of it. Γ-homology specializes to a new homology theory for discrete commutative rings, very different in general from André-Quillen homology. We prove its general properties, including flat base change and transitivity theorems. We give an explicit bicomplex for the Γ-homology of a discrete algebra, and elucidate connections with stable homotopy theory.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
