In population studies, 20-65% of women and 15-40% of men have experienced neck and shoulder symptoms during their lives (5.19). However, there are only a few report.. published on the occurrence of neck and shoulder pain in adolescents (6,17).There is a lot of evidence in the medical literature to show that neck and shoulder pain is related to static and faulty working postures (4,9,11, l5,16,18). Unfortunately, almost nothing has been documented concerning the etiological factors of neck and shoulder pain in adolescents.Hertzberg (6) found that neck and shoulder pain in Norwegian high school student.. predicted symptoms in adult age as well. Thus, to decrease the occurrence of harmful neck and shoulder pain in adults, it is important to learn more about the etiological factors of neck and shoulder pain and the ways of preventing it in adolescence.
