Citronella fragrance is one of the many plants in Indonesia. Citronella fragrance is widely used by Indonesian people as a spice dish and has traditionally been used for various treatments. Citronella fragrance contains essential oils that have the potential to have anti-fungal effects and have traditionally been used for the treatment of skin diseases. Isolation of citronella essential oil with the method of vapor distillation. The tested fungi are opportunistic fungi that often infect human skin. In testing the antifungal activity of the citronella essential oil (Cymbopogonnardus (L.) Rendle) against the fungal causing skin infection. The research was done by using agar diffusion method and using the density disc as the diffusion medium against A research of antifungals activity of essential oil of citronella (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle ) to fungus that cause disease in humans has been done. This research used agar diffusion method to the fungus test Tricophyton rubrum, Tricophyton mentagrophytes and Candida albicans. The concentration that used 1%, 0,5%, 0,25% and 0,1%. The results showed that in concentration 1% essential oil of citronella (Cymbopogon nardus ( L.)Rendle) has the highest activity with Candida albicans with an average of inhibition diameter was 19,4mm 0,15. In 0,1% concentration of essential oil of citronella (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle) does not have antifungals activity to Tricophyton mentagrophytes that without inhibition diameter around the paper discs. Meanwhile, in concentration 0,1%, the essential oil of citronella (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle) still have antifungals activity to Tricophyton rubrum and Candida albicans with an average of inhibition diameter 7,4 mm 0,35 dan 8,5 mm 0,15. Keywords: Candida albicans, Sereh wangi (Cymbopogonnardus (L.), Tricophyton rubrum, Tricophyton mentagrophytes, Candida albicans
Tiap kelompok perlakuan diberikan sediaan uji selama 7 hari. Selanjutnya kecuali kontrol normal pada hari ke-8 tiap kelompok perlakuan diinduksi hepatotoksik dengan parasetamol dosis 1400 mg/kgbb dan setelah 24 jam dilakukan pengambilan darah melalui arteri carotis untuk diukur aktivitas SGOT
A significant increase in cardiovascular disease prevalence among the Indonesian according to Riskesdas in 2018. Therefore an alternative treatment with minimum side effects to decrease serum total cholesterol is required. Some herbal with anti-hyperlipidemic activity and has a great safety profile can be combined as a mixture to achieve high pharmacology activity with a better taste. Three types of herbal formulas were made from the combination of the juice of garlic, roselle calyx, red ginger, citrus lemon, pineapple, apple cider vinegar, and honey. The variations of the formula were based on the addition of roselle, and pineapple to the composition of garlic, red ginger, citrus lemon, apple cider vinegar, and honey. The doses used in each formula were 2.7 ml/kg BW and 5.4 ml/kg BW. Each formula was given once a day for 10 th day along with high lipid diet-PTU to the animals. Total cholesterol levels were measured digitally through tail vein one day before and after treatment. All herbal juice formula significantly decreased of total cholesterol level of the high lipid diet-PTU rat and it's linear with the dose. The addition of roselle calyx and pineapple each on the herbal juice formula will raise the anti-hyperlipidemic effect. The herbal juice contained roselle showed the highest antihyperlidemic effect at the dose of 5.4 ml/kg BW.
