Transfusion-related acute pulmonary injury (TRALI) is a rare pathology, defined as an acute respiratory distress syndrome characterized by acute respiratory failure and acute pulmonary edema that manifests in the period between the 6 h after a transfusion. We present the case of a young patient diagnosed with TRALI, who previously underwent elective surgery that required a transfusion. In addition, a brief review is made of the literature on the subject.
La lesión pulmonar aguda asociada a transfusión (TRALI, transfusion-associated acute pulmonary injury) es una patología poco común, definida como un síndrome de distrés respiratorio agudo caracterizado por insuficiencia respiratoria aguda y edema pulmonar agudo que se manifiesta en el periodo comprendido dentro de las 6 horas posteriores a una transfusión. Se presenta el caso de una paciente joven con diagnóstico de TRALI, quien previamente fue sometida a una cirugía electiva que requirió una transfusión. Además, se realiza una breve revisión de la literatura sobre el tema.
