Analysis of the Benefits of Seaweed Farming and Its Effects on the Environment and Community Activities (Study in the City of Tual, Southeast Maluku). This study aims to analyze how much profit and efficiency levels of seaweed farming in the City of Tual Southeast Maluku and their impact on community activities and the surrounding environment. The method used in this research was business analysis. The business analysis method consisted of business income analysis, revenue cost ratio (R/C) analysis, Break Event Point Analysis, Return on investment (ROI), and descriptive qualitative. The results showed that seaweed farming in Tual City was very profitable, with an average profit for small farmers of IDR 15,134,275 and large farmers of IDR 29,927,120. The result of revenue cost ratio analysis in Tual City was very efficient where the average R/C value for small scale seaweed farming was 3.3, and for large scale, the average R/C value was 3.4. In terms of break-even point where a break-even point for small-scale businesses would occur when the price per Kg of seaweed was in the range of IDR 3,987 with an average production of dried seaweed 1163 Kg. For seaweed farming on a large scale where the break-even point would occur when the price per Kg of seaweed was in the range of IDR 3,847 with an average production of 2275 Kg. From the results of the analysis of return on investment obtained an average of 326% for small farmers, and for large farmers amounted to 342%. Besides, the selection of efficient seaweed cultivation so that it does not have too much impact on community activities and the surrounding environment.
Lawang oil (cinnamomum culilawan BL) is a commodity from non-timber forest products from Ujungkia Village, Ki District, Boven Digoel Regency. The rich of natural resources can be processed into a commodity to increase local community welfare and local revenue (PAD). So that this study aims to determine the feasibility of developing management industry of lawang oil in Ujungkia Village which will become an industrial center and a new center for economic growth. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, combined with quantitative research, namely the method of analysis of Loss / Profit Ratio and SWOT. The results of the research are the development of management industry of the lawang oil in Ujungkia Village, Ki District, Boven Digoel Regency which has good and feasible prospects to be realized based on the results of the R/C analysis and SWOT analysis. Based on the R/C ratio analysis that is obtained is equal to 1.585 which means the value of R/C ratio ≥ 1, in this case management industry of Lawang oil activities are profitable. Then the results of the SWOT analysis obtained Total Strength - Total Weakness (S-W) which is 1.86 or X = 1.86. While the difference in Total Opportunities - Total Threats (0-T) is 1.44 or Y = 1.44. This means that (1.86; 1.44) is in Quadrant I (positive, positive).
Sota Village has an unique attraction as a cross border tourism between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and has become the favorite destination in Merauke Regency. This study aims to find and prove the determinant factors of cross border tourism to improve the welfare of local residents in Sota Village, Sota District, Merauke Regency. The type of research used is a qualitative approach by expolarizing information on field data and literature so that data can describe the events that take place factually, systematically and accurately. The results of the study found that cross border tourism has made a positive contribution in supporting the regional economy, business sectors related to the tourism industry sector have increased income, distribution of basic needs, expansion of economies of scale. In addition, infrastructure and other supporting facilities, the community has felt the benefits such as the ease and smooth flow of human and goods mobilization. However, the indigenous people of the Kanum Tribe are still very limited and have not had much direct impact on their welfare. Because they are still very few who are directly involved in business activities related to tourism such as: food businesses, trade, even cultural arts, crafts and so on. Several causes are the quality of human resources is still low, lack of the spirit of entrepreneurship, awareness of the role of the tourism industry sector for economic life. So that the attention of the cultural values and customs of the Kanum Tribe as a native population has not been widely appointed as one of the tourist advantages. The village has the authority to manage the existing potential for public welfare. So that the village government can form economic institutions, namely Village Owned Enterprises (BUMK). Kampung Wogekel has marine and swamp fisheries resources. The study uses a PRA approach based on community participation with SWOT analysis. The results of this study found: Strength Aspects namely 1). Sufficient labor is available, 2). The productive age potential of coastal communities, 3). Natural resources are very available, 4). Public facilities such as ports, Pertamina logistics, banking institutions, 5). Fishing boats belonging to the village. Weakness aspects are: 1). Weak capital, 2). Fisheries business technology is still simple, 3). Electricity, ice factories and shelters and storage vessels, 4). Limited access to marketing, 5). Community culture that does not have entrepreneurial spirit. Opportunity Aspect: 1). Job opportunities, 2). Natural resources have not been fully utilized, 3). Authority to establish BUMK, 4). Government support. Threat aspects, namely: 1) Low fish prices, 2). Weather and bad season, 3). There is still massive fishing to only take bubbles and also illegal fishing, 4). Central government regulation of the moratorium has not been revoked. So that the potential business sector is a fish shelter business.
