SEME et al. / Int. J. Biol. Chem. Sci. 11(3): 958-966, 2017 959 Delta protocol associated with PGF2α and PMSG. A total of 148 cows and heifers were used in this experiment. The visual and continuous observations of the signs of heat were made systematically until the 56 th hour after the cessation of treatment. The timing and duration of estrus and the number of overlaps were determined in 37 females. The overall rate of induced estrus was 92.81%. Race and parity influenced significantly (p ≤ 0.05) the response of estrus. The mean time to onset of the heats was 35.41 ± 7.23 hours with an average duration of estrus 14 ± 3.76 hours. Race and breeding localities significantly influenced (p ≤ 0.05) the time of appearance, the mean duration of estrus and the average number of overlaps (8.89 ± 6.85). Induction and synchronization of heat with the Prid ® Delta protocol is applicable with success in cattle farms in Togo.
Some time ago, observations made in bovine herds in the southern part of Togo revealed an outbreak of new pathologies among which the calf diarrhea (CD) was the most important. This diarrhea caused a high mortality among the young calves, particularly those within 0 to 6 months of age. As a multifactorial, which constitutes enterobacterial infections (E. Coli, Salonellae sp.) and gastro intestinal worms (Strongles, Emeiria spp.). Poor hygiene practices and a lack of zoo-sanitary monitoring were also the major causes of this epidemiology.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
