No abstract

The study aims to collect the main approaches proposed on the treatment and formal representation of machine tools, with special emphasis on both proposals that the authors consider as references and those from standarization domain. Based on this analysis, a schema is developed that incorporates the chronological evolution of the modeling of machine tools and the works oriented to their unifying. Finally, an outline of the future orientation of this line of work is also included.
