As in many areas, studies in the field of mathematics education have increased rapidly in recent years. The need to investigate the studies in this area has emerged. Within the scope of this study, the tendencies of the articles and master/Phd thesis about the mathematics textbooks in the field of mathematics education were examined and awareness was tried to be created. In this study, 37 theses and 50 articles were analysed by using meta-synthesis method. The studies examined were examined according to year, grade level, research method, data collection tool, university and department, number of authors, purpose and results. It was observed that the theses examined in the study increased in the period of 2008-2012 and the articles increased after 2009. It has been concluded that the researches are mostly used for evaluating secondary school books and especially 7th grade mathematics textbooks, it is preferred to work with more than one author in the studies, the data collection tool used frequently is "document review" and the method used is "scanning model". Besides, most of the studies were done for the purpose of examining and evaluating the use of textbooks. When the results of the studies are examined, it is seen that there are negative results about mathematics textbooks.
