The current status of the inland waters ichthyofauna of Turkey is revised, and an updated checklist of the freshwater fishes is presented. The latest checklist included all species listed in the available previous study that was published in 2015, which is now updated after a period of five years. We revised the validity of previously accepted species and added newly described and reported species in Turkey. Some previously erroneously reported species and not established alien fishes were excluded from this checklist. A total of 384 fish species belonging to 20 orders and 34 families have been reported in the inland waters of Turkey. Among these, 15 species (3.9%) are non-native and 208 species (54.2%) are considered as endemic to Turkey. A total of 119 species previously reported from Turkey have been excluded from Turkish ichthyofauna list, either in the present study or in previous studies.
The length-weight relationships, condition factor and morphometrics of 10 species of the genus Alburnoides are provided from Iranian inland water. The a values ranged from 0.0037 (Alburnoides damghani) to 0.0128 (Alburnoides namaki), the b values ranged from 2.87 (A. namaki) to 3.50 (A. damghani) and the coefficient of variation (r2) ranged from 0.90 (Alburnoides samii) to 0.99 (A. namaki). Of these, Alburnoides coadi, A. damghani and Alburnoides eichwaldii show positive allometric growth while all the others are isometric growth. Mean condition factors (K) varied from 0.84 (Alburnoides holciki) to 1.37 (Alburnoides idignensis).
This study was carried out to determine the population parameters of Garra rufa in Merzimen Stream, Euphrates River Basin between May and November 2013. A total of 365 specimens were caught by electro shocker. The age of the sampled specimens ranged from 0 to V age groups. Total length and weight varied from 2.9 to 16.8 cm with a mean of 9.67±3.52 cm and 0.21 to 69.27 g with a mean of 15.69±14.75 g, respectively. The length-weight relationship was obtained as W=0.0124L 2.9888 and the b value indicated the isometric growth. Estimated population parameters were calculated as L∞: 19.98 cm, k: 0.275, t0: -1.157. Fulton's condition factor and growth performance index were estimated as K: 1.24 and Φꞌ: 2.04. Total (Z), natural (M), and fishing (F) mortalities and the exploitation rate (E) were estimated 0.452, 0.295, 0.156, and 0.347, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
