The study was designed to determine whether rats trained in an avoidance conditioning situation while drugged (meprobamate) would demonstrate a decrement in performance when tested without the drug. Also, would Ss trained without the drug exhibit a decrement when tested on the drug. The results indicated a decrement in latency and frequency of avoidance response only for Ss trained on the drug and tested without it.
