Recently the nine isomeric heptanes have been prepared in a very pure form by Edgar, Calingaert and Marker.5 Various physical properties of these samples were subsequently studied by a number of investigators, and much of the resulting data has been discussed and summarized by Edgar and Calingaert.6 Through the courtesy of Dr. Edgar we have enjoyed the privilege of measuring the heat capacities of these isomers from liquid air temperatures up to that of the room.
