A 60-year-old man presented with chest discomfort with fever and high C-reactive protein (CRP). Chest computed tomography (CT) disclosed a mediastinal soft tissue swelling originating from the aortic arch, and gallium-67 single-photon emission CT revealed intense uptake in the same region. We initially suspected mediastinitis and/or a thoracic aortic infection. Antibiotics improved his symptoms and CRP levels. However, a follow-up CT scan 33 days later, revealed an aortic arch aneurysm and the patient was diagnosed with infective aortic aneurysm. Here, we report a rare case of a rapidly progressing aneurysm of infected aorta aortic infection with pseudoaneurysm formation.
AR (Augmented Reality) could be realized as a basic and high-level function on latest smartphones with a reasonable price. AR enables users to experience consistent three-dimensional (3D) spaces co-existing with 3D real and virtual objects with sensing real 3D environments and reconstructing them in the virtual world through a camera. The accuracy of sensing real 3D environments using an AR function, that is, visual-inertial odometer, of a smartphone is extremely higher than one of a GPS receiver on it, and can be less than one centimeter. However, current common AR applications generally focus on "small" real 3D spaces, not large real 3D spaces. In other words, most of the current AR applications are not designed for uses based on a geographic coordinate system.
therapeutic course of acute heart failure is largely unknown. To clarify these properties, we profiled changes in serum miR signatures on the day of admission for acute heart failure and on hospital day 7.Screening assay suggested several fluctuating miRs and validation assay confirmed significant decrease of miR-122-5p from Day 1 to Day 7 (4. 62 [2.39:12.3] to 3.07 [1.67:5.39], P = .007, median arbitrary unit [1st:3rd quantile value]). Amelioration of liver damage indices were significantly correlated with changes in serum miR-122-5p (vs change in AST 1.69, 0.890-2.484, P < .001, vs change in ALT 1.09, 0.406-1.771, P = .007, estimated coefficient and 95% confidence interval). The serum miR signature was significantly changed within clinically relevant period, and might reflect organ damage caused by hemodynamic abnormality. Especially, serum miR-122-5p levels reflect liver damage in this condition.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
