Currently, there are two main problems with the evaluation of college English teaching quality: the lack of a complete evaluation system, and the limited quantification of evaluation indices. To solve the problems, this paper sums up the evaluation contents of college English teaching quality, and identifies the factors affecting the teaching quality of college English. On this basis, an improved evaluation system was established for the assessment of college English teaching quality, which is theoretically innovative. Next, grey clustering analysis and entropy weight method were combined into a robust evaluation model for college English teaching quality. This research provides a new and applicable solution to quantification of college English teaching quality.
This paper attempts to overcome the defects of traditional English learning mode, including poor real-time communication ability, heavy reliance on individual self-discipline, and undesirable learning effect. Drawing on the theories of English learning motivation, the author analyzed the relationship between learning motiva-tion and learning behavior in light of the Edmodo-based blended English learning mode, and put forward the English learning persistence rate formula, thus reveal-ing the correlations between learning cost, objective external learning environ-ment, learning motivation, and learning persistent rate. In addition, the English courses were made more pertinent according to the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve. The course test data were fitted and weighted, outputting intuitive curves on learning effect. The research results show that the Edmodo-based blended Eng-lish learning mode has a significant learning effect, and a guiding significance for English learning and English teaching reform.
The main goal of college English education is to cultivate the students’ language ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, and to promote the formation of individualized learning and autonomous ability of college students. At present, the new curriculum reform in our country has put forward a new educational requirement to college English teaching, which requires the innovation of college English teaching idea, and under the background of the development of new media, it proposes to use new media equipment to carry out teaching activities. However, college English education in our country is influenced by examination-oriented education mode, and the traditional education method is still used, which is not good for college students to improve their comprehensive quality of English. The English departments in colleges and universities are the training center of professional English talents. Their teaching quality bears on the international exchanges and economic development. Through questionnaire survey, interview, and literature review, this paper designed an evaluation index system (EIS) for teaching quality assessment of English departments in colleges and universities, which consists of 19 indexes. Specifically, the collected data was computed and sorted out through factor analysis, and the common factors were extracted, forming an EIS containing 19 secondary indices and 5 primary indices. Next, a weight was assigned to each index in the EIS. Taking the English departments of 3 higher educational schools in a province for example, an empirical analysis was carried out to verify the application effect of our EIS on the teaching quality of college English education. The results demonstrated the scientific nature, reasonability, and feasibility of the proposed EIS. The research enriched the theoretical and practical evidences for the teaching quality assessment of college English education, and promotes the teaching quality assessment of college English department.
